Art on the Floor
This four-foot by six-foot rug called "Symbols" came to Betty Rae in a vision in 1992.
When she tried to find supplies in craft stores, no one had ever heard of this form of rug-making. They only knew of
"Latch Hook" which used wool yarn. Traditional Rug Hooking uses old wool skirts and slacks cut into thin strips
and pulled through burlap or monks cloth with a crochet hook in a wooden handle. In 1994, Symbols was honored
in a book, Celebrations of Hand-Hooked Rugs. Judges were amazed that this was Betty Rae's first rug.
